This month, the Eclipse Hawaii User’s Group was held over lunch and at the Dept. of Justice on Beretania St. in Honolulu, HI on 12/16/08. This was an awesome meeting with IBM providing sandwiches and Pacific Hi-Tech providing a presenter, Greg Hester.
We had over 20 persons in attendance and Greg brought along two of his sons to talk about technology in Hawaii. Josiah Hester, Freshman at Clemson University in South Carolina, described how Eclipse is used by students at Clemson on Java, C++ and PHP projects. Nathan Hester, 11 years old, showed off his Lego NXT robot. Everyone got a chance to play with the robot and to see how its is programmed.
Greg Hester, CEO of Pacific Hi-Tech, then gave a presentation on Eclipse and how it can be used to build web applications. Greg showed some Eclipse basics such as perspectives, editors, the debugger and scrapbooks to name a few. Greg also demonstrated and extended a web application as part of the presentation.
