Is Hawaii only about tourism? Not so!
Greg Hester, CEO of Pacific Hi-Tech, and Steve Sakata of IBM had the opportunity to appear on the Mike Buckradio show at KHVH 830 AM on Dec 4th, 2008. Mike talked to Greg & Steve about technology in Hawaii and how the presence of companies like Pacific Hi-Tech is decreasing the “Brain Drain” on Hawaii. Greg & Steve also pointed out that there is a growing tech community in Hawaii with several user’s groups to support the community.

Eclipse Hawaii User’s Groupprovides a place for Eclipse enthusiasts to share, learn and contribute to the Eclipse community. Eclipse is an IDE developed by IBM and donated to the Open Source Community. You can build Java, PHP, Ruby and much more with Eclipse.
Manoa Geeks is a regular gathering of people working or interested in Web 2.0, online entrepreneurship and start ups, programming and development, and science and technology.
TechHui is Hawaii’s online Tech Community. TechHui provides an online venue for meeting other Techies. You can also share events, join or form a group around a topic, or post articles about technology.
Bytemarks Cafe is a weekly radio show on KIPO – 89.3 FM that showcases technology projects and attempts to build a broader awareness of technology in Hawaii. Bytemarks aims to encourage a dialog and interaction, both online and in real space.
